நான் கறுப்பாக இருக்கிறேன் என்று பார்க்காதீர்கள்; வெயில் என்மேல் பட்டது; என் சகோதரர்கள் என்மேல் கோபமாயிருந்து, என்னைத் திராட்சைத் தோட்டங்களுக்குக் காவற்காரியாக வைத்தார்கள்; என் சொந்தத் திராட்சைத்தோட்டத்தையோ நான் காக்கவில்லை.

Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.
