เพราะว่าพระสัญญาที่ประทานแก่อับราฮัมและผู้สืบเชื้อสายของท่าน ​ที่​ว่าจะได้ทั้งพิภพเป็นมรดกนั้นไม่​ได้​​มี​มาโดยพระราชบัญญั​ติ​ ​แต่​​มี​มาโดยความชอบธรรมที่​เก​ิดจากความเชื่อ

For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
