ఎందుకంటే ధర్మశాస్త్రాన్ని పాటించడం ద్వారా ఏ మనిషీ దేవుని దృష్టికి నీతిమంతుడు కాలేడు. ధర్మశాస్త్రం వలన పాపమంటే ఏమిటో తెలుస్తున్నది.

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
