​สัตว์​ร้ายที่ท่านได้​เห​็นนั้นเป็นอยู่ในกาลก่อน ​แต่​​บัดนี้​​มิได้​​เป็น​ และมันจะขึ้นมาจากเหวที่​ไม่มี​ก้นเหวเพื่อไปสู่ความพินาศแล้ว และคนทั้งหลายที่​อยู่​ในโลก ซึ่งไม่​มี​ชื่อจดไว้ในหนังสือแห่งชีวิตตั้งแต่แรกทรงสร้างโลกนั้น ​ก็​จะอัศจรรย์​ใจ​ เมื่อเขาเห็นสัตว์​ร้าย​ ซึ่งได้​เป็นอยู่​ในกาลก่อน ​แต่​​บัดนี้​​มิได้​​เป็น​ และกำลังจะเป็น

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
