Het Beest, dat ge gezien hebt, wàs, maar is niet; doch het zal opstijgen uit de afgrond en ten verderve gaan. En de bewoners der aarde, wier naam niet geschreven staat in het boek des levens van de grondvesting der wereld af, ze zullen verbaasd staan bij het zien van het Beest, omdat het wàs, niet is, doch zàl zijn.
