നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനെയും അപ്പന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനെയും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; തന്റെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തു സഹോദരന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകയും അരുതു; ദൂരത്തെ സഹോദരനിലും സമീപത്തെ അയല്ക്കാരൻ നല്ലതു.

Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
