ஏழையின் கூக்குரலுக்குத் தன்னுடைய செவியை அடைத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவன், தானும் சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடும்போது கேட்கப்படமாட்டான்.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
