NUMERI 32:13

E l'ira del Signore si accese contro a Israele; ed egli li ha fatti andar vagando per lo deserto, lo spazio di quarant'anni, finchè sia stata consumata tutta quella generazione, che avea fatto quel male nel cospetto del Signore.

And the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.
