Want Chesjbon was de stad van Sichon, den koning der Amorieten, die vroeger tegen den koning van Moab had gestreden, en hem toen al zijn land had ontrukt tot de Arnon toe.

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
