Want Hesbon was de stad van Sihon, den koning der Amorieten; en hij had gestreden tegen den vorigen koning der Moabieten, en hij had al zijn land uit zijn hand genomen, tot aan de Arnon.

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
