જ્યારે નેગેબમાં રહેતા કનાનીઓના રાજા અરાદે સાંભળ્યું કે ઇઝરાયલ અથારીમને માર્ગેથી મુસાફરી કરી રહ્યા છે, ત્યારે તેણે ઇઝરાયલ સામે લડાઈ કરીને તેમાંના કેટલાકને કેદ કરી લીધા.
