4 Moseboken 11:1

Och det hände, att folket var en klagan (sökte en anledning att klaga – hebr. anan i ovanliga formen hitpoel) – ondska i Herrens (Jahvehs) öron, och när Herren (Jahveh) hörde det upptändes hans vrede, och Herrens (Jahvehs) eld brann ibland dem och slukade dem [som bodde] i lägrets utkant. [Eld är ofta förknippat med Guds straff, se 4 Mos 16:35; 3 Mos 10:2; 2 Kung 1:10, 12]

And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
