Mereka memperhatikan beberapa murid Yesus sedang makan tanpa mengikuti adat Yahudi, yaitu tidak membasuh tangannya sebelum makan. Jadi menurut mereka, murid-murid Yesus sudah menjadi najis di hadapan Allah.
