ఆ తరువాత వారు యెరికో చేరుకున్నారు. యేసు, ఆయన శిష్యులు, వారితో ఉన్న జనసమూహం ఆ పట్టణాన్ని వదిలి బయలుదేరారు. తీమయి కుమారుడు బర్తిమయి అనే ఒక గుడ్డివాడు దారి పక్కన కూర్చుని ఉన్నాడు. అతడు భిక్షగాడు.

¶ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimæus, the son of Timæus, sat by the highway side begging.
