ఇద్దరు యజమానులకు ఎవరూ సేవ చేయలేరు. అతడు ఒకణ్ణి ద్వేషించి మరొకణ్ణి ప్రేమిస్తాడు. లేకపోతే ఒకడికి కట్టుబడి మరొకణ్ణి చిన్నచూపు చూస్తాడు. అలాగే దేవునికీ సంపదకూ ఒకేసారి సేవ చేయడం కుదరదు.

¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
