เมื่อพวกเขาเอาหนามสานเป็นมงกุฎ เขาก็สวมพระเศียรของพระองค์ ​แล​้วเอาไม้อ้อให้ถือไว้ในพระหัตถ์เบื้องขวาของพระองค์ และเขาได้​คุ​กเข่าลงต่อพระพักตร์​พระองค์​ เยาะเย้ยพระองค์​ว่า​ “​กษัตริย์​ของพวกยิวเจ้าข้า ขอทรงพระเจริญ”

¶ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
