​วิบัติ​​แก่​​เจ้า​ พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริ​สี​ คนหน้าซื่อใจคด ด้วยพวกเจ้าถวายสิบชักหนึ่งของสะระแหน่ ​ยี​่หร่าและขมิ้น ส่วนข้อสำคัญแห่งพระราชบัญญั​ติ​ คือการพิพากษา ความเมตตาและความเชื่อนั้นได้ละเว้นเสีย ​สิ​่งเหล่านั้นพวกเจ้าควรได้กระทำอยู่​แล้ว​ ​แต่​​สิ​่​งอ​ื่นนั้นไม่ควรละเว้นด้วย

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
