Men medan han funderade (resonerade fram och tillbaka) över allt (dessa saker), se, då visade sig en Herrens ängel (budbärare – gr. aggelos) för honom i en dröm och sa: ”Josef, Davids son, var inte [du behöver inte vara] rädd att ta till dig Maria [Mirjam], din hustru, för det som har blivit till (frambringats, alstrats – gr. gennao) i henne är från (har sitt ursprung i) den helige Ande.
