അപ്പോൾ ശാസ്ത്രിമാരിലും പരീശന്മാരിലും ചിലർ അവനോടു: ഗുരോ, നീ ഒരു അടയാളം ചെയ്തുകാണ്മാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു:
