ఎందుకంటే ఆయన, “ఈ వ్యక్తిని వదిలి బయటకు రా” అని ఆ అపవిత్రాత్మకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చాడు. అది చాలాసార్లు వాణ్ణి పట్టి పీడిస్తుంది. వాణ్ణి గొలుసులతోనూ, కాలి సంకెళ్ళతోనూ బంధించి వాడికి కాపలా పెట్టారు గానీ వాడు ఆ బంధకాలన్నిటినీ తెంచుకునేవాడు. దయ్యాలు వాణ్ణి చవిటి భూముల్లోకి తీసుకుపోయేవి.

(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
