இயேசுவின் பெற்றோரும் அவரைக்கண்டு ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவருடைய தாயார் அவரை நோக்கி: மகனே! ஏன் எங்களுக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தாய்? இதோ, உன் தகப்பனும் நானும் மிகுந்த கவலையோடு உன்னைத் தேடினோம் என்றாள்.

And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
