ఆయన ప్రజలతో ఈ ఉపమానం చెప్పాడు, “ఒక మనిషి ద్రాక్షతోట నాటించి, దాన్ని రైతులకు కౌలుకిచ్చాడు. ఆ తరువాత వేరే దేశానికి వెళ్ళి అక్కడ చాలా కాలం ఉన్నాడు.

Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.
