​เศรษฐี​จึงร้องว่า ‘อับราฮัมบิดาเจ้าข้า ขอเอ็นดูข้าพเจ้าเถิด ขอใช้ลาซารัสมาเพื่อจะเอาปลายนิ้วจุ่​มน​้ำมาแตะลิ้นของข้าพเจ้าให้​เย็น​ ด้วยว่าข้าพเจ้าตรำทุกข์ทรมานอยู่ในเปลวไฟนี้’

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
