மகளாகிய சீயோனின் மூப்பர்கள் தரையில் உட்கார்ந்து மெளனமாக இருக்கிறார்கள்; தங்கள் தலைகளின்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்; சணலாடை உடுத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்; எருசலேமின் இளம்பெண்கள் தலைகுனிந்து தரையைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.
