യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിയേ, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു എന്തു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? എന്തൊന്നിനെ നിന്നോടു സദൃശമാക്കേണ്ടു? സീയോൻ പുത്രിയായ കന്യകേ, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ എന്തൊന്നു നിന്നോടുപമിക്കേണ്ടു? നിന്റെ മുറിവു സമുദ്രംപോലെ വലുതായിരിക്കുന്നു; ആർ നിനക്കു സൗഖ്യം വരുത്തും?

What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
