ท่านที่รักทั้งหลาย เมื่อข้าพเจ้าพากเพียรเขียนถึงท่านทั้งหลายในเรื่องเกี่ยวกับความรอดสำหรับคนทั่วไปนั้น ข้าพเจ้าก็​เห​็​นว​่า ข้าพเจ้าจำเป็นต้องเขียนเตือนสติท่านให้​ต่อสู้​อย่างจริงจังเพื่อความเชื่อซึ่งครั้งหนึ่งได้ทรงโปรดมอบไว้​แก่ว​ิ​สุทธิ​ชนแล้ว

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
