Jozua 9:24

Zij gaven Jozua ten antwoord: Omdat aan uw knechten ten stelligste werd medegedeeld wat de Here, uw God, zijn knecht Mozes geboden had, namelijk om het gehele land aan u te geven en al de inwoners van het land voor uw aangezicht te verdelgen, vreesden wij zeer voor u om onzes levens wil; daarom hebben wij dit gedaan.

And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.
