คนป่วยนั้นทูลตอบพระองค์​ว่า​ “ท่านเจ้าข้า เมื่อน้ำกำลังกระเพื่อมนั้น ​ไม่มี​​ผู้​ใดที่จะเอาตัวข้าพเจ้าลงไปในสระ และเมื่อข้าพเจ้ากำลังไป คนอื่​นก​็ลงไปก่อนแล้ว”

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
