Josef van Arimatea, die een leerling van Jesus was, maar alleen in het geheim uit vrees voor de Joden, vroeg daarna verlof aan Pilatus, om Jesus’ lichaam te mogen afnemen; en Pilatus stond het hem toe. Hij kwam dan, en nam zijn lichaam af.
