När Jesus hade sagt detta [bett bönen i kapitel 17 högt] gick han tillsammans med sina lärjungar ut [från Jerusalem] till andra sidan av bäcken Kidron [Kidrondalen (hebr. nachal Qidron) öster om Jerusalem]. Där låg en trädgård [Getsemane, se Matt 26:36; Mark 14:32] som han och lärjungarna gick in i.
