เขามิ​ได้​​กล​่าวอย่างนั้นตามใจชอบ ​แต่​เพราะว่าเขาเป็นมหาปุโรหิตประจำการในปี​นั้น​ จึงพยากรณ์ว่าพระเยซูจะสิ้นพระชนม์แทนชนชาติ​นั้น​

And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
