నా ప్రజలారా, వినాశనకారి హఠాత్తుగా మా మీదికి వస్తాడు. గోనెపట్ట కట్టుకుని బూడిద చల్లుకోండి. ఒక్కడే కొడుకును గూర్చి ఎలా దుఃఖిస్తారో ఆ విధంగా విలపించండి. బహు ఘోరంగా విలపించండి.

¶ O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.
