Met uitzondering van een deel van het armste volk voerde Neboe-Zaradan, het hoofd van de lijfwacht, al wat er van de bevolking der stad was overgebleven, met de overlopers die zich aan den koning van Babel hadden overgegeven, en de verdere rest van het volk in ballingschap weg.
