യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടിൽ, നേര്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബാരൂക്ക് ഈ വചനങ്ങളെ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയപ്പോൾ യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞ വചനം എന്തെന്നാൽ:

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
