Jeremia 44:22

Och Herren (Jahveh) kan inte längre lyfta sitt ansikte för alla era onda gärningar, på grund av styggelserna som ni har begått. Därför har ert land blivit en ödemark och till häpnad och en förbannelse, utan invånare som det är idag.

So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.
