ശാഫാന്റെ മകനായ അഹീക്കാമിന്റെ മകൻ ഗെദല്യാവു അവരോടും അവരുടെ ആളുകളോടും സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ കല്ദയരെ സേവിപ്പാൻ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ദേശത്തു പാർത്തു ബാബേൽരാജാവിനെ സേവിപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കും;

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
