Jeremia 32:23

maar toen zij gekomen waren en het in bezit genomen hadden, hoorden zij niet naar uw stem en wandelden niet naar uw wet; zij deden niets van alles wat Gij hun geboden hadt te doen; daarom hebt Gij al deze rampspoed over hen gebracht.

And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
