​แล​้วเยเรมีย์​ก็​มาจากโทเฟท ​ที่​ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรับสั่งให้ท่านพยากรณ์​นั้น​ และท่านก็ยืนอยู่ในลานพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และกล่าวแก่ประชาชนทั้งปวงว่า
