પછી યર્મિયા તોફેથ કે જ્યાં પ્રબોધ કરવા યહોવાહે તેને મોકલ્યો હતો, ત્યાંથી પાછા ફર્યા બાદ તે યહોવાહના મંદિરના ચોકમાં ઊભો રહ્યો અને બધા લોકોને ઉદ્દેશીને બોલ્યો કે;
