యెరుబ్బయలు డెబ్భైమంది కొడుకులకు అబీమెలెకు చేసిన ద్రోహం మూలంగా వాళ్ళను చంపిన వారి సోదరుడు అబీమెలెకు మీదికి ప్రతిఫలం వచ్చేలా దేవుడు ఈ విధంగా చేశాడు. అతడు తన సహోదరులను చంపేలా అతన్ని బలపరచిన షెకెము నాయకుల మీదికి కూడా ఆ నరహత్య ఫలం వచ్చేలా ఆయన చేశాడు.
