Heel die dag door bleef Abimélek de stad bestormen, totdat hij de stad had veroverd. Hij doodde het volk, dat er in was, verwoestte de stad, en bestrooide haar met zout.

And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew the people that was therein, and beat down the city, and sowed it with salt.
