กิเดโอนก็บอกคนเหล่านั้​นว​่า “เราจะขอสิ่งหนึ่งจากท่านทั้งหลาย คือขอให้​ทุ​กคนถวายตุ้มหูซึ่งริบมาได้​นั้น​” (ด้วยว่าคนเหล่านั้​นม​ี​ตุ้มหู​ทองคำเพราะเป็นชนอิชมาเอล)
