இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் யெகோவாவை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டபோது, யெகோவா அவர்களுக்குப் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தானாகிய கேராவின் மகன் ஏகூத் என்னும் இரட்சகனை எழும்பச்செய்தார்; அவன் இடதுகைப் பழக்கமுள்ளவனாக இருந்தான்; அவனுடைய கையிலே இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய எக்லோனுக்குக் காணிக்கை அனுப்பினார்கள்.
