Que' cinque uomini adunque andarono; e, giunti in Lais, videro il popolo che era in quella città, la quale era situata in luogo sicuro, stare in riposo e in sicurtà, nella maniera de' Sidonii; non essendovi alcuno nel paese, che desse loro molestia in cosa alcuna; ed erano padroni del loro stato, e lontani da' Sidonii, e non aveano da far nulla con alcuno.

¶ Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.
