ยากอบ 5:12

​พี่​น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า ​ที่​สำคัญเหนือสิ่​งอ​ื่นใดทั้งหมดก็​คือ​ จงอย่าปฏิ​ญาณ​ ​ไม่​ว่าจะโดยอ้างฟ้าสวรรค์หรือแผ่นดินโลก และไม่ว่าจะโดยคำปฏิญาณอื่นใดก็​ตาม​ ​แต่​​ที่​ควรว่าใช่​ก็​จงว่าใช่ ​ที่​ควรว่าไม่​ก็​จงว่าไม่ เกรงว่าท่านจะต้องถูกลงโทษ

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
