எலியா என்பவன் நம்மைப்போலப் பாடுள்ள மனிதனாகயிருந்தும், மழைபெய்யாதபடிக்குக் கருத்தாக ஜெபம்செய்தான், அப்பொழுது மூன்று வருடங்களும் ஆறு மாதங்களும் பூமியின்மேல் மழைபெய்யவில்லை.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
