Jesaja 50:2

Varför, när jag kom, fanns där ingen människa? Varför, när jag kallade, var det ingen som svarade? Är min hand avkortad så att den inte kan ge återlösning (befrielse – hebr. pedot) [Jes 59:1]? Eller har jag ingen kraft att rädda (befria)? Se, med min tillrättavisning torkar jag ut havet [2 Mos 14:21], jag förvandlar floderna till öken [Jos 3:16], deras fiskar blir strandsatta eftersom där inte finns något vatten och de dör av törst.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
