Jesaja 42:6

[Herren talar nu till Messias:] Jag, Herren (Jahveh), har kallat dig i rättfärdighet (för att uppenbara vad rätt och fel är, och att leva rättfärdigt). Jag ska hålla dig i handen, och bevara dig. Jag ska ge dig som ett förbund [en förbundsmedlare] för folket [Israel, se Jes 49:6-8; Luk 2:32], som ett ljus för hednafolken (nationerna) [Jes 51:4].
