അയ്യോ, കോലാഹലം നിറഞ്ഞും ആരവപൂർണ്ണമായും ഇരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണമേ! ഉല്ലസിതനഗരമേ! നിന്റെ ഹതന്മാർ വാളാൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടവരല്ല, പടയിൽ പട്ടുപോയവരും അല്ല.

Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, a joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.
