Perciocchè, come ritornerei io a mio padre, non essendo il fanciullo meco? Io non potrei farlo, che talora io non vedessi l'afflizione che ne avverrebbe a mio padre.

For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.
